Reel of Fortune

A catch of a lifetime!
Raya came early this year for me! At least 7 hours early.
Today, being a day before the Raya celebrations, im off school and back at home. Reuben and randall invited me to Bukit Cahaya at first, wanting to explore the whole area once again but this time picnicking somewhere there. But turns out the plans didnt really work out well and so we ended up going fishing!

Heading towards banting, there is a turn off on the left of the highway. Not really visible, so you've got to keep a real good look out. The place is a pay-to-fish pond. The usual scene with the hut on one side, the water churning thingy in the water, some nets, a few anglers situated around the pond. It's been quite a while since i last fished, so this was as exciting as before. Just so you know, I've never caught a single fish(decent ones la) ever since my first fish back in 2003?

So why the surprise today? Well duh?? because i caught one la!
Its called a 'Rohu' to native anglers.

Rohu (Labeo rohita) is a fish of the carp family Cyprinidae, found commonly in rivers and freshwater lakes in and around the South Asia and South-East Asia. In Hindi it is called Rohu.(Rawas is the Indian Salmon, which is quite different) It is called rui in Bengali, rou in Assamese and is popular in Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Orissa, West Bengal, Assam, and the Konkan region of India. It is a non-oily/white fish.

The above is the average fish size i think. Im not a pro fisher OKAY! I caught one about 1-2kgs while randall and reuben managed to catch one each too! So for supper, we went to Foo Chuan to eat. Asked the cooks to whip up something so that we can enjoy! turned out okay, if not for the omnipresent bones in the fish, it would've been excellent.

So for the holidays, Im happy!

Fishy fishes fish,
Fished out fishy fishing fish!
